Kansas Department of Labor is now on Twitter! Topeka—The latest news and information from the Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL) is now instantly available to the world through Twitter. The agency recently began using the social networking site to spread the news about Kansas unemployment insurance, workers compensation, workplace safety and labor statistics. Full article
Congratulations to the 2009 Kansas State Council of SHRM! Kudos to the 2009 Kansas State Council of SHRM for attaining and being recognized as a 2009 SHRM Honor State Council. Kansas Indoor Clean Act: On July 1, 2010 the Kansas Indoor Clean Air Act will take effect. Kansas workplaces, bars and restaurants will become smoke-free. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has a Business Toolkit that offers employers assistance in rolling this out.
George Trombold Achievement Award Nominations: Nominations for the George Trombold Achievement Award are currently being accepted. The Trombold Award is designed to recognize outstanding achievement in the field of human resource management and community leadership. Unemployment Fraud: KDOL has recently added a new Unemployment Fraud page to their website in response to comments and testimony provided by the business community during the 2010 legislative session. To view the new information visit http://www.dol.ks.gov/fraud/fraud.html.
Diversity Corner: Diversity related events during the month of July include Independence days in the United States, Venezuela, Argentina, Colombia, Liberia and Peru. Also celebrated during July: The French holiday Bastille Day, The Egyptian observance of Revolution Day, the Spanish Feast of St. Ignatius Loyola, and the anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act in the United States .
